Cultural attractions are catalyzing the revitalization of downtowns across the United States. In Pittsburgh, a formerly run down 14-block area has been transformed into the city's cultural district, stimulating billions of dollars of new real estate investment. In Denver, the city prepared a strategic plan that leveraged its real estate holdings and catalyzed downtown revitalization efforts, including the construction of the convention center, ballparks, and performing arts center. Birmingham, Alabama has enhanced its revitalization efforts with downtown districts, including an historic theater and civil rights district. Panelists will discuss how creativity, talent, money, strong public/private partnerships, and real estate savvy have come together to transform these three dynamic cities.
