Denver - Growth and Water in the West
|
Session #: 046-139
Presenter(s): Panel Session Length: 1:15 hr.
Program: 2006 ULI Fall Meeting Date: 10-2006
The rate of growth in the southwestern states has been unprecedented in the last 20 years, and continues unabated. However, water is the single most limiting factor for growth and development. Not only is the supply limited, the region is in an unusually hot and dry cycle which stresses the system. The basic source for this region is the Colorado River, and it is controlled by a series of national and international compacts. Hear about the various state and interstate mechanisms for dealing with this resource and discuss how water supply and use is increasingly a prime consideration in development policy. Our panel will discuss specific, project related issues which are important to every real estate professional with long-term interest in this part of the country.
