Session #: 046-115
Presenter(s): Panel Session Length: 1:15 hr.
Program: 2006 ULI Fall Meeting Date: 10-2006
With the accelerating impact of global trade on goods consumed in the United States, does our economy face a bottleneck as a result of our aging transportation infrastructure? Can we continue to move goods efficiently with the rapidly increasing costs to expand transportation related to public improvements? Can the capacity of our seaports, roads, airports, and railroads handle the increased logistics burden anticipated in the foreseeable future? Do these trends foretell a change in the industrial development pattern? This panel will discuss current infrastructure conditions and discuss how needs and opportunities will converge and diverge. Panelists will discuss the future movements of goods throughout the country and expected changes as the population and its overall consumption grows.
