There is a lot of discussion these days about workforce housing, but what is it? Many communities are facing real challenges providing convenient, appropriately-priced housing for teachers, firemen, young professionals, municipal service workers, and their colleagues. Is this something that the real estate profession should address, or is it a challenge that may be placed on developers by municipalities out of political necessity? Is it just a new name for affordable housing? Is it a vital ingredient in the sustainability of communities or is it something that developers will be forced to include to obtain entitlements for other projects? Can this work be profitable? In other words, "Is this something that we should do or will it become something we must do?" Speakers will address these issues from both a policy and practice perspective.
