Presenter(s): Panel Session Length: 1:15 hr.
Program: 2007 ULI Fall Meeting Date: October 24-26, 2007
The e-world continues to provide great gains in productivity and quality through highly inventive computer programs. Imagine architectural designs, construction documents, shop drawings, and engineering with all the associated costing being accomplished virtually and simultaneously. This panel will discuss a real project designed almost entirely without paper plans and constructed through the use of state-of-the-art Building Information Modeling (BIM) software. The panel will address the process, the interface between disciplines, the role of the contractor and the impact on the total delivery process. Issues will be discussed related to cost savings, time savings, accuracy, and barriers related to designing and building a project in a paperless approach will be discussed.
