With rising construction costs, more restrictive codes, and rising energy costs how can the development industry cope? The cost of construction affects planners, architects, developers, lenders, and owners of real estate. Our panel will address the latest techniques to reduce costs for new construction. The panel will also discuss the impact of the International Building Code, especially as it relates to energy use. With the recent events in the Gulf states, rising costs of construction have accelerated. We will explore actual impacts that are already being felt and shed light on the expectations for the future. Will basic building material prices continue to spiral? Will there be shortages and development delays? Will these conditions affect construction costs for years to come, or can we expect improvement in the near future?
