Bill George knows true authentic leadership. Even after successfully leading Medtronic to record breaking profits and writing Authentic Leadership: Rediscovering the Secrets to Creating Lasting Value, George still wanted to do more. He became a Harvard Business School professor in order to pass on the invaluable experiences that he has amassed so that others would be able to learn the secrets to true authentic leadership. In conjunction with his professorship, George launched a study to map out the exact qualities that are needed to become a top business leader, and to discover the "authentic leadership" inherent in top CEOs, presidential cabinet members, leadership scholars, and the like. His findings, available in his new book, True North: Discover Your Authentic Leadership, provide a strategy for building your own personal leadership development plan. True North is based on research and first-person interviews with 125 of the top leaders in business. In this leadership tour de force, George presents many surprising conclusions as to what makes a great leader, some of which are actually contrary to previous research. The book presents a concrete and comprehensive program for leadership success. Thus far, the book has sold over 75,000 copies and has made both the Business Week and Wall Street Journal lists, as well as being #1 on the CEO-READ best-seller list for three consecutive months.
